Here's Amazon's list of 100 Greatest Indie Rock Albums. The criteria was that the albums had to be released on an independent label, and that there can only be one entry per band.
There are a lot of great albums on this list, although I have a problem with the order. "Bee Thousand" isn't even good, there is no way that album is better than "Daydream Nation", "Surfer Rosa", and "Slanted and Enchanted". Those albums should of been at the top of the list, along with "Exile In Guyville", "Funeral", and "Dig Me Out".
The worst offense on this list is the #32 placement of the Replacement's "Let It Be". That album is amazing, a landmark in the alternative landscape that should be top 5 on this list. Seriously, Unrest (whatever that is), The Magnetic Fields and the Postal Service are better than "Let It Be"? No way mayne.
