Whatever Works
Ok, I was really excited about this movie when I heard about it last year. And how couldn't I be excited? Larry David is my hero. Seriously, he's the best. I love everything he does. And Larry David starring in a Woody Allen movie? That just sounded great. I mean, Annie Hall is one of my favorite movies ever, and I've liked enough other Woody Allen movies to still hold some respect for him as a filmmaker. This was a can't-lose, right?
This movie looks awful. Really, really awful.
It is SO WEIRD seeing L.D. blurt out these cheesy lines (which were obvs written by Woody Allen, not L.D.). Seriously, it is almost cringe-inducing. Larry David is a comedic genius. He is probably the greatest comedy writer ever (at least of TV shows). Larry David has a singular, unique comedy voice... he cannot utter crappy, cheesy lines from some out-of-touch 80 year-old who is seemingly making this film to justify his own affair with a much younger woman (his step daughter, no less). Why couldn't Larry David write his own dialogue? Or better yet, why couldn't L.D. and Woody Allen collaborate together on this film? Seriously, I know Allen is an auteur and everything, but... you have Larry David right here! Making him deliver your bad dialogue (when he could so easily punch it up himself) is a crime against humanity.
Whatever, I'll probably still see it. That's how deep my loyalty for L.D. is.

Yawn. First, the word is auteur. Second, Woody Allen does not and has never had any stepdaughters. Third, Larry David doesn't actually write dialogue, whereas Woody has been doing so - and winning awards for it - for over 40 years. Fourth, I bet he is more "in touch" then you will ever be. Fifth, I really wish people had to pass an IQ test before setting up a blog. And sixth, now that Larry David has been in a Woody film it's all downhill for him.
V have you ever heard of the term douche chill V
the arrows should actually be going upward by the way......
Yeah whatadouche. Yeah, Woody Allen and Mia Farrow never married, but Soon Yi was the sister of Woody's legally adopted children. Like that makes it better?
And Larry David doesn't write dialogue? What about all the "Seinfeld" episodes he wrote? What about his movie "Sour Grapes" that he wrote? Just because "Curb" is semi-improvised doesn't mean L.D. hasn't written dialogue.
DOUCHE CHILL!
