Here's the British rag NME's best of '08 list. They have a couple good, interesting choices (I'm digging their rare picks of School of Seven Bells, Los Campesinos, and Scarlett Johanson), but there is a lot of regional British stuff that they continue to hype for some reason (Primal Scream, The Kills, Oasis). I don't get how they continue to love Oasis. Oasis hasn't released a decent album in over a decade, but the British music press still grants them genius status, more so than Radiohead. I just think that they've hyped them for so long and so hard, and although they haven't lived up to any of their lofty praise, they continue to hype them now based solely on pride. Like, they've gone too far, and their pride is the only thing keeping them from acknowledging that Oasis suck.
It's actually a pretty solid list though, better than I expected from them. Although I really hate MGMT, so...
