You can't stop it once it's started, McCain.

I know I've been really hard on McCain over here, but he's brought it all on himself. I used to really respect the man. I always thought he was the one honest Republican, a (cough) maverick in his debased and morally corrupt political party. That was a few years ago. He's since changed almost everything he's held dear throughout his career to win this presidential election. Seriously, he has turned on everything and bowed down to his Republican constituents, flip-flopping on almost every issue to match his party and further his chances to win their nomination. It's pretty sad.
Here's a list of some of the stuff that McCain has flipped on. Watch this. And read this. It's pitiful.

But I think that John McCain has had a pang of whatever is left of his conscience, and he's trying to tone down on his violent, hate-filled campaign rallies of late. I think he finally realized what he is doing (stoking the flames of hate, racism and potential violence in a scared, angry and desperate group) and he tried to tone it down today, insisting that Obama is a "decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States". He also implored his followers to be respectful and that Obama is "a decent, family man, [a] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign is all about." However, his crowd and supporters booed McCain and continued to lash out at Obama, Democrats and the media. HIS OWN CROWD BOOED HIM.

Once you start with these people, you can't stop, McCain. You can't just have them turn off this hate that they have, they're not like you. They are a rabid base who is afraid to lose their centuries-long hold of power to a black "terrorist". You can't just turn the faucet off and plead with these people to be reasonable and respectful. You opened up Pandora's box. Hope it was worth it.
