Pixar's first short, from 1984

From Best Week Ever:

STEAMBOAT WALL-E: Pixar’s First Short

By Michelle Collins

This weekend, the Pixar animation studios scored another homerun with their latest project Wall-E, a brilliant feature film in both technically and (wait for it) spiritually. I sat through most of the film with anime-style tears welling up in the ol’ sight sockets, amazed that this mini-Johnny 5 could evoke such joy and worry in this previously-thought-to-be black heart of mine.

But after watching the following video, Wall-E’s brilliance begins to make a little more sense. This is the first animated short created by Lucasfilm Computer Graphics Project, headed up by John Lasseter, who eventually would become one of the pioneer’s of Pixar. It’s entitled The Adventures of Andre & Wally B… and was created in 1984! The plot is not exactly tear-inducing, but it’s hard to imagine the lush autumnal backdrops and quirky characters were made on a computer 24 years ago.

I am easily captivated.
I remember the first time I saw Toy Story. It was an epic event. Now other companies are doing this style of animation. I kinda miss when we saw this kind of thing once every four years.
